Leça do Balio Feira Medieval

20min from Porto, 1000years from today.

In September, the Monastery of Leça do Balio near Porto, holds the event “Os Hospitalários no Caminho de Santiago”, a true journey back in time to the medieval period, with dance, music, mummers, falconry, horse tournaments, weapons training... a great shows that promise a unique and immersive experience.

I've been there a couple of times with friends to enjoy it and I must admit it was well worth! I've never seen such incredible fair and use of the costume of that times. Obviously for me the best thing was the blacksmith. Funny enought that I’ve found 2 of them!

There was a lot for the food lovers too: artisanal doughnut, medieval sandwiches, smoking sidro and grilled pulled pork.

Pretty nice fair that also ended up with some fancy night show. I don’t know how much these people have worked to create this but, wow!
